Alfresco 3.4.a on OpenSuse 11.2 x64

The first problem was that alfresco couldn't connect to the database to create its tables. Make sure you have

127.0.0.1 localhost

on /etc/hosts .

Next, enconding problems. This will do the trick:

db.url=jdbc:mysql://localhost/alfresco?characterEncoding=UTF-8

on /opt/alfresco-3.4.a/tomcat/shared/classes/alfresco-global.properties

(or better, at installation time).

After that alfresco was installed, but tomcat won't start the app. There are several errors, let's try one by one.

on /opt/alfresco-3.4.a/alfresco.log:

err: .convert.bin: no decode delegate for this image format `/opt/alfresco-3.4.a/tomcat/temp/Alfresco/ImageMagickContentTransformerWorker_init_source_5420882157064229722.gif' @ constitute.c/ReadImage/526.
.convert.bin: missing an image filename `/opt/alfr...

I haven't resolved this yet (tried setting img.exe=/usr/bin/convert on alfresco-global.properties, but it triggers another error).

Also had to write

index.recovery.mode=FULL

to recover the lucen indexes.

Finally, in /etc/my.cnf

sort_buffer_size = 20M

(originally it was 8M)

let's see if this is enough memory.
